Tag Heuer, Intel and Google have come in a three-way collaboration to make Android Wear smartwatch.
The watch is expected to be launched by the end of the year, and will run on Android Wear. Like other Android watches, it will focus on fitness, outfitted with a GPS antenna and an embedded activity tracker. Jean-Claude Biver, Tag Heuer CEO, said, “people will have the impression that they are wearing a normal watch.”
The most surprising element of the Tag Heuer collaboration is perhaps Google’s involvement. Android Wear obviously requires a digital screen, and it’s not quite clear yet how this will be combined with Tag Heuer’s analogue, mechanical heritage. There’s no information yet about what the watch will look like or when there might be more news, but you can expect that development is already well underway. It will be pretty interesting to see how this trio will compete with Apple Watch.
